Makil Chair

Makil is a stackable chair made of solid wood, based on the traditional café chair. Despite its simple appearance, Makil is the result of the skilled application of bentwood technique. The wood is bent with steam and then left to dry for a long period of time. Members of the Alki team then prepare and assemble it.

About Alki

Alki´s path started in 1981 in a small village in the northern Basque Country, in Itsasu. In a time of economic difficulties a group of five friends founded a small chair factory that we named Alki   "which means chair in Basque"  with the aim of creating jobs in a weakly industrialised region.
